Most moms would say they love their kids, but how many moms actually love being a mom?
What do your children perceive from your attitudes? What does your countenance reveal about your thoughts about your life?
Do they think you are unhappy, discontent, exhausted, don’t enjoy life? Do they perhaps believe the lie that they are a burden?
You have heard it said, “Love is a Choice!”
But how many of us have connected the dots that we can choose to love every aspect of our lives, just as we can choose to love other people?
There are always aspects of every job, duty, or even life circumstances that are not worthy of loving or are less enjoyable BUT as Christians we have a choice to have a joyful heart attitude in the midst of it!
I see people sharing images on social media that say “LOVE YOUR LIFE!”
Do they? Do they love even the hard and undesirable aspects of their life knowing that it’s those things and those hard times that build character?
Even when you don’t feel like it, you can be different than the world, preach truth to yourself, and embrace motherhood!
I know the challenges that moms face to engage every day with intentionality.
We need to remind ourselves of the greater vision regularly. And we need to remind each other when one of us forgets and begins to fall prey to the comparison trap or the bondage that comes from not living confidently in Christ!
Listen, you are more than a wife and a mom. You are a daughter of the King of Kings!
God has a plan and a purpose for your life sister!
If you are a mom, part of that plan, is to be a mom and to model for your children what being an intentional wife and mother looks like. I know there are moments when the days seem to go by so slow, but really embrace those days and focus on building relationships.
You are in ministry! You don’t need to go out and sign up to run a ministry because you are already in one if you are married and have children.
You are doing the Great Commission in your home.
Marriage and Motherhood are your first two ministries!
God CHOSE YOU for this! He trusts you to raise up the children in your home to love, honor, know Him and make Him known to the world! That’s a HUGE honor!
It’s not who you are, but it is what you do right now! So engage it, learn about how to do it better, let being a mom sanctify you as God has intended!
Remember that what you do is so valuable on a very real level with your children, but also on a larger scale.
You are raising tomorrow’s leaders; the husbands and fathers, the wives and mothers of tomorrow’s leaders. You are a legacy leaver.
This is WHY I launched my shop here at Courageous Mom!
On a practical note, I am often found with a coffee cup near by, in need of being warmed of course and in a cozy sweatshirt, t-shirt, or hat.
So, I decided to design a mug to use and a hat to wear that would do TWO things:
1.) Preach to myself in those moments when I forget the vision behind why I do what I do as a stay-at-home-hard-working-mom and wife!
2.) Challenge other moms to remember and to develop a vision for their mothering!
The Vision for the Mug:
The “I Love Being a Mom” Mug is pretty much reserved for mom in the cupboard and it reminds me throughout the day as I fill it up and to slow down and enjoy being a Mom, kind of like how you have to slow down to drink a cup of coffee.
Speaking of coffee, did you know we offer Be Courageous Coffee?
Regardless of what hats you wear, you work hard.
Join me as we re-brand our role of wife and mom to the world and enjoying in working hard in all these areas of our lives.
How do you remind yourself to make sure what your children are perceiving from you is that you enjoy and love being a mom? Leave me a comment.
