Dr. Mom’s Homeopathic Medicines

in Health & Wellness, Motherhood, Natural Meds on 15/10/13

Homeopathics and I have a love/hate relationship. Let me explain what I mean. I love homeopathy. It is AMAZING. 100% recommend it.

However, because it works so well, it can further embed this “pop a pill mentality” I am so against down to the very fiber of my being. No kidding, diet fades… um ya… I laugh at those. I’ve never done one, never will. So this is part of where the “hate” aspect comes in. Because homeopathy works so well, you have to be careful that you don’t allow your children to go first to the meds for healing for everything. It’s like putting a band aid on a scratch that isn’t bleeding.

The other thing is that I don’t know many other moms who use it, so I feel kind of odd or like they look at me as some moonshine homeopathic nut case. Ha. Get it, homeopathic.

Dr. Mom’s Homeopathic Medicine Shelf:

I was first introduced to Arnica Montana by my midwife just after my first birth 13 years ago or so, but I didn’t really get into using it regularly until about five years ago. In the picture here you can see I have a cool little travel kit holder. I love this thing. One of the best investments. We keep all of our most needed homeopathics in it, and when we go on a spontaneous camping trip I just grab it! And I won’t overwhelm you with the 6 tier shelf system I have in my kitchen cupboard. Today I am just going to share with you the basics.

What is Homeopathy?

Therapeutic method used to help stimulate natural healing. These natural doses can be used for simple issues as well as chronic diseases. “The basic theory is that homeopathic medicines relieve symptoms caused by the substance they are made of.” Boirin Online Classes

Where to Purchase Homeopathics?
I purchase most of my homeopathics online or at New Seasons, Whole Foods, and Natural Groceries. You can also usually purchase them directly from your Naturopathic doctor. You should always check with your doctor before taking any medications, including homeopathy.

How did I learn about homeopathy?
Here are a few books I recommend:

My confidence in trying homeopathy came from our Naturopathic physicians and midwives. I think it is necessary to encourage you to find a holistic healthcare professional that can mentor you in how to evaluate and administer appropriate treatment.

If you haven’t yet read the main intro post entitled “What’s in Dr.Mom’s Medicine Cabinet this Fall?” Feel free to pop over and take a read it!

As you begin doing research yourself and start trying out new things for healing in your family. Remember to teach your children. Natural remedies, healing, and care is a lost art these days but can become part of your legacy too.

I truly hope and pray your family stays well this fall and winter. May you be inspired and become more equipped to treat simple sicknesses at home confidently!
