Mentors, Sisters, & Aspiring Titus 2 Women of God,
We have such an opportunity for strengthening one another as a team. You have either heard me speak on or read about guarding yourself and being wise in whom you choose as a mentor; where I urge you to Look at the Fruit in a woman’s life before choosing a mentor.
Today I want to talk about this challenge we have as Aspiring Titus 2 Women of God to be above reproof, not only in teaching what is good and in alignment with the Word of God, but that it also may be encouraging.
I invite you and urge you to watch this short little 12 minute video. We will cover these 4 passages of scripture:
- Romans 14 & 15
- Titus 2 & 3
- Isaiah 35: 4 {but I love this whole chapter}
- Philemon 1:4-7
With Titus 2 Ministries rising up in churches we need to remember one main thing, in our mentoring we are expected to “teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Titus 2:4-5, ESV
I urge you sisters to be intentional with one another, but be careful to be encouraging, not discouraging. The topic of pregnancy and childbirth can become a challenge for women when it comes to being encouraging. But this is our responsibility– to encourage.
This is the sanctifying aspect of mentoring: to humbly encourage our sisters in a way that God calls us to.
Experiencing the Lord’s presence in pregnancy, labor, childbirth and beyond is possible, just as experiencing His presence as one who walks through cancer or celebrating a wedding is possible. God can walk with us through ANY experience in life and He does as believers, but so often people don’t acknowledge Him or surrender those seasons to Him and invite Him to be in control.
As sisters encouraging sisters in the same or similar season, be careful not to discourage one another. The temptation for fear is great in this season. Be aware, be wise.
Do not put a stumbling block in the way of your sister– do not create fear or discourage them as they prepare for motherhood.
“…through endurance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
For those who are weak:
Be careful who you allow to influence you. Seek out strong women to encourage and lift you up, through words of encouragement but also in prayer.
For those who are strong:
Discern what the Holy Spirit is leading you to say: teach, exhort, encourage and pray for your sister in Christ. For those who are much older and may not have had the opportunity or freedom we have today to have a birth experience they would want to share, please understand that you can still encourage sisters in the Lord. Teach them not to compartmentalize Jesus, their faith, or relationship with Him out of any area of life.
God can not be put in a box.
And He deeply desires to reveal His glory to you in every way, in every relationship, and in every circumstance. We are to praise Him in all things. We are to seek Him, His wisdom in making decisions concerning all things in life, including childbirth, but not limited to it! Pray for one another, encourage one another in the Lord.
Build one another up. Speak truth. Help. Serve. Love unconditionally. And in all things, live your life with integrity and dignity.
Teach and encourage your sisters or daughters in the Lord to praise His name in all things. Just as Psalm 23 teaches us to. We sing these songs in church, “Surrender All,” “Psalm 23,” “You Are My All in All,” but do we live it? Do we really?
This is an opportunity for us all to shine our lights for Jesus again… just simply another opportunity. In our mentoring, our friendships, our circumstances, our journeys, and in our lives… daily.
Ladies, I have failed many times with this. Everyday I have the challenge to live in my flesh or in the Spirit. When you don’t feel good, it is EVEN HARDER. I know. I have been through this season nine times, remember. But may I encourage you to focus on your Savior, your Redeemer, the one true light of the world. He will give you strength. He will lead you gently if you ask Him. So daily, moment by moment, seek the Lord. His grace is more than sufficient.
