Refusing to Raise Cookie Cutter Kids Part 3

in Parenting on 09/08/12

If you knew that you only had until your child was 16, 17, 18, or 19 (or even 25) years old to train them for life… what would you most focus on? Are you doing that?

I am preaching to the choir here trust me. I am guilty of getting too busy, making my kids too busy that they don’t have time to develop some of the character traits on my list.  What happens then?  Well, I have had to take “my list” to God, surrender it to Him and ask Him to reveal what His list is for each of my children and then work on that list first.

If you don’t know where to begin; if you don’t know what character traits, skills, or heart attitudes you should focus most on, ask yourself these questions:

1) Why are we here?

2)Why did God create us?

Our answers to these questions, our deepest beliefs about our creation will largely influence what we do in this life. How deep of conviction these beliefs are determine if we take action on them. If you don’t know what you believe, you certainly can’t expect your child to.

May God bless your ministry as mother and wife!
