A Note and Prayer for Fellow Moms!
Mothering is often described by our culture as a thankless job. While there is a reality that moms all over the world serve faithfully, working hard at often mundane tasks, many moms get stuck in a pity party, focused on all they do for others without receiving anything in return.
It’s a shame that more moms don’t feel the appreciation or respect for all they do. This is a cultural problem we need to change!
What is worse is that so many moms fall for the lie that what they do isn’t as important as HER.
You know her. The strong woman our world idolizes and praises, the one that on the outside is running herself ragged doing it all.
The truth is that you are doing more than you know. When you are taking the time to teach and train your child in righteousness and hold them accountable when they are selfish, you are raising a powerful introspective person that will have the character worth following.
Your kids will be our future leaders. There is no amount of love, confidence, courage, or biblical truth that is too much when raising tomorrow’s leaders.
The devil, our enemy, just wants to discourage you into thinking that you need to do something BIGGER, something the world will recognize. He is trying to distract you from what is most important and what only YOU can do right now. You can’t raise your son or daughter when they are 30 years old or even 21.
Don’t become distracted from the mission God has sent you on Sister! HE SEES you and everything you do in His name and for His glory!
Embrace the season you are in and love every minute of it because you and I both know it will be gone in a blink of an eye. Don’t miss it!
While you are in the midst of the busy life of mothering, remember to invite God into it all.
It should be the first thing you do, to ask Him for guidance, for the purpose, for supernatural energy, and wisdom as you parent.
I pray for my sisters who feel unappreciated and even disrespected by others for choosing to be a mom. Would your Holy Spirit encourage them today and help them to know just how valuable they are to You? Help them to have the vision for what they are doing every day and not to lose sight of the greater purpose. Help all of us to be aware of the temptation to become dissatisfied in our primary roles of being a wife and mother and give us the strength to fight against that temptation. Help us to choose in the moment to love being a wife and mom!
I pray that my sisters would focus on what a gift their children are, not what they are preventing them from being able to do. I pray they would see every load of laundry, or extra cup on the counter as evidence of the eternal inheritance that God has blessed them with.
I pray that this Mother’s Day women everywhere wouldn’t be looking for what they can get out of the day from others, or what they deserve, but rather have a heart of gratitude for all the eternal blessings they have because of their children. I pray that Your Spirit would change heart attitudes to really LOVE BEING A MOM! In Jesus Name, Amen.
